Overview
A website structured around the enquiry it exists to receive: the information a visitor needs before making contact, in the order they need it, with a content structure the institution's own team can maintain after handover.
Challenge and approach
The challenge
Institutional sites accumulate. Pages are added for internal reasons until the route a visitor actually takes is buried three levels down, and the people who have to maintain it are not the people who built it.
The approach
The structure was written before the design: the real enquiry path mapped first, everything not on it demoted, and the remainder built on a content model the team can edit without needing a developer. Local discovery was set up alongside it so the institution is findable at the point people look.
Frames
Closer, and one more way.
These frames are a representative treatment of the discipline, not a record of the delivered files — the artwork is the studio’s own. Project photography is published here as each client releases it.
Presentation
The same piece built in three dimensions, turning as the page moves past it. It is a way of showing the work, not a second photograph of it — and not a substitute for the files themselves.
Process
How it was made.
- 01Information architecture written before any interface
- 02Content model designed for non-technical maintenance
- 03Local discovery set up alongside the site itself
